BECOMING A PEOPLE PERSON

Hello there,

I welcome you to this edition of BUILD PEOPLE NETWORK. A phrase for ‘becoming a people-person— creating relationship systems that work.’ You may wish to sit tight with a glass of water as you won’t enjoy reading this if you are not physically relaxed. ☺ ☺ ☺. You need that comfort!

People are assets that are more important than money. When you build people network, money will only be an addition. The reason why so many people miss so many things is because they prefer money to people. So instead of building relationships with people, they look out for money from them. Money fades but people don’t. When you have a network of people around you, you may not need to bother about so many things money can do because these people may have what you need. As we proceed, I’ll share some of my experiences.

Building people network is not just connecting to people, it is building a system that guarantees you will always get attention from these people. And before that happens, you will need to first build your message. What makes people connect very well to you is your message. Your message is what you’re known for. Your message is what people will say about you if they sit to discuss. When you build your message, you must be ready to tell it relentlessly. However, people must see you in your message because what they connect to is the YOU in your message. So who will you say you are?

Imagine you’re the CEO of a company and you need the best guy to employ, who will you take? The guy that says I am an engineer? Or the guy that puts himself in his message?

I’ll give you an example. After everyone announced who they are, Emeka rose up to say: “After being rejected by a foreign company, I decided to  pull my socks up and build a niche for myself where I build strategies that  help every small, medium and mega organization.” You will be drawn to Emeka’s introduction more. You will want to know more…..

Life presents us everyday with great privileges to meet people; to build relationships with them. There are some people you will meet only for a while. The only thing that will keep you bonded with them Is the relationship you build.. Wait a minute, why do we even need a network of people? Are you a business man or woman? Then who are your customers? People. Who can help advertise you? People. We cannot grow without people.

More so, you need more than a relationship. You need a network of relationships, and it’s still people that can help you build big systems of relationships. For example, I got a call last week from an established consultant and writer. He called me because he has heard so much about me from a friend of mine. And by the end of the day, he said to me, “you can call me anytime for anything and don’t bother about the cost”. I’m working on a book to be published soon and what his statement means is any support I need on my book, I should just let him know. That is not money. That is a person but it’s more than money. People network work for you even in your absence. I have never seen the man. I only know my friend and she connected me to him. For this reason, take advantage of every meeting you attend. Be careful to listen and watch out, and see if there’s someone you may need to say ‘hi’ to.

I was in a meeting last year and was very keen when a speaker spoke on entrepreneurship. By the end of the day, I put up an amazing write up about him and his enterprise, and sent it to him.  Guess what? Today, he’s not a stranger to me. And he’s a CEO of 3 internationally recognized businesses, an Institute inclusive. Some weeks ago, I connected to 2 writers from Enugu and Abuja and we now laugh and relate. How did I do it? It was on a group I joined to learn my skills better. What this means is when my book is out, I have more persons it will get to through them. People

Again, why do you even need people?

You don’t have everything. Someone got something you need. One man can tell someone about what you do. One man can connect to many more persons.

Have you heard of MMM?  That networking business that crashed sometime ago. Building people network is about building people MMM. You can be sure of many talents, supports and cash coming your way when you build PEOPLE NETWORK.
