How I discovered Isaiah 58:11

This month’s wish from us was lifted from the 11th verse of Isaiah 58. In the note that followed, I mentioned how that I had discovered and incorporated it into my daily reading as that prayer always spurs me on. I feel the need to share this because I believe it will encourage one or two hearts and challenge fellow believers to stay sensitive to the leadings and promptings of the Holy Spirit.

I was chatting on my WhatsApp one evening when I heard the words, ‘well-watered garden’ in my spirit. I had no recollection of that verse of the scripture but I was curious to find out where those words were from. I was a bit down (emotionally) that night and when those words came, something lit up within me. So, I minimized my WA app and went on a Google search of the words. From the search result, I saw this scripture and pulled up my Bible app to read it up. I read it in different translations, each one broadening my understanding.

While I had been waiting for the search results, I had the words personalized: I am a well-watered garden. When I finally saw the Bible verse, it was the pull and push I needed that moment. I suddenly lit up and took to my WA status to share the excitement and the new-found scripture.
I returned and went further down the search results and saw a website I came to love. I quickly looked through their resources and subscribed to their newsletter. (https://wellwateredwomen.com/)

Isaiah 58:11 And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

This was how the journey to my daily affirmation of this scripture began. I dare say, those words have been my experience so far (story for another time).

What do I hope you glean from this narration?

1. The need to stay sensitive (most especially during downtimes).
I had made a silent plea to Abba to fix me up earlier that evening, before the words dropped. It has become a part of me, even if I can’t repeat how I said it I know I asked for help—I always do. So, when the words came and my spirit lighted up, I didn’t trivialize it.

2. The need to take the extra effort in seeking for the extra.
Had I stopped at being excited at my new identity as a watered garden, I wouldn’t have found the scripture and seen the part that says the Lord will guide me continually. And really, that is the most important part for He is the one that leads me to where the waters are, and refreshes my soul.

Experiences like this show me how practical our walk with God can be, and should be. It further affirms to me His genuine interest in all that concerns me.

Dear believer, consider this a loving reminder.
Have a beautiful week ahead.

Remember you’re light; keep shining.
I love you!
