SIX LOVE MARKERS

This is the season of love, yeah?

It’s without questions that the deepest desire of any human is to be loved back, even as they love.

So we chase love, fall in love, fall outside again, somersault inside too.

But what is love?

Is it some fleeting feeling we have to run after?

Is it a shallow ditch we fall in and crawl out of?

Does it require any of our acrobatic (read: manipulative) skills to find and sustain?

And why do we even desperately need it? (Your independent self might want to argue this but take an introspective pause first.)

It begs to ask: what really is this love?

I’ll try to paint a picture with these six markers.

I’ll reiterate these words I’m sure you’ve heard before. Please take good notice of the embedded links which lead to other articles that expound properly on the subject, “love”.

1. Love is not a feeling; it’s more than emotions.

Before we go further, I have to tell you to forget about true love…chances are, you can’t have it.

Yeah, I said it…forget about it. It’s pursuit is real hard work.

2. Real love doesn’t make other people feel wrong for being different. When people truly love another person, they accept their differences.

3. Real love demands sacrifice that can’t be found in self-centeredness. You can give without loving, but you can never love without giving.

4. Loving involves knowing how to relate with older people.

5. It also involves relating with our neighbors.

6. It doesn’t give up on others easily. It would help you to know how to deal with misunderstandings when they arise.

I’ll end this note with something Joshua Harris said in ‘I Kissed Dating Goodbye’.

As we relate to others today, we form patterns that we’ll take with us into our marriages. For this reason, we must not only practice sincere love but  also practice commitment-based love.”

Remember you’re light, shine!

I love you… boundlessly

Important Notice: The site would be going down between Saturday and the 1st of March. This is to enable us perfect our surprise package. Okay, forget the surprise talks… let me just tell you.
